Comments about Putian Projects Submitted

Hi Kids,

Some of you have submitted your projects. As we look through, we noticed that some of you merely mentioned what happened from Day 1 to Day 7.

It would be good to include the following in your reflections:

• How has this trip helped you to achieve the objectives?
• What strengths (good points) have you learnt from the Putian pupils?
• Compare some aspects of the culture between Singapore and Putian/Xiamen.
• How do you feel now as a Singaporean?
• Are you proud to be a Singaporean? Why?

Please try your best to modify your presentations this weekend and submit to any of the 3 teachers on Monday (via email, thumbdrive, CD).

To date, no one has submitted the project in Chinese. Would anyone like to complete the project in Chinese?

Dear Kids,

We will be giving each of you a DVD of photos taken during the trip.

You may use these photos (reduced size) in your projects.
The photos in better resolutions may be printed (if your parents wish to do so).

趣事（二）

1) 哪两位学生一坐在一起`, 我们就开始笑个不停呢?
他们的名字是A____和 T_____。（同学们，你猜中了吗？）

2）华文课所学的德国人的那种“人人为我，我为人人”的精神如何用在我们的生活当中呢？
妈妈“喂”我（小时），我“喂”妈妈（老时）。（你又有什么其它的想法呢？）

3）拍照的时候，不说Cheese，还能说什么呢？
xie zi 还是 qie zi？（老师还是搞不懂。）

4）学生所做的最糊涂的第一件事是什么？
把护照放地上！（同学们，以后可别把重要的东西随处放！）

5）学生所做的最糊涂的第二件事是什么？
忘了拿买东西后所找的零钱！（同学们，钱可不容易赚呢，要好好管理。）

趣事（一）

陈老师在这次的旅途中发现了许多有趣的事哦！现在，我就将它们一一写下！

1）无聊的时候，同学们最爱做什么？
同学们最爱玩脑筋急转弯（悄悄告诉你，老师们也很喜欢！）

2）逛街的时候，同学们最爱做什么？
同学们最爱花钱。（家长们，别担心，他们花钱买礼物给你们和兄弟姐妹哦！真孝顺！）

3）在什么地方，老师最放心同学们呢？
是在书店！（同学们认真地选书、看书、买书，多么上进啊！）

4）我们发明了一种新的行业，猜一猜那是什么呢？
2008年最新的行业就是厕导！（不明白的话问一问到过莆田的学生就知道答案了。）
5）同学们当中，最“会”吃的是谁？
他可棒了，吃的都是非常有益的，例如鱼眼睛，海参等等。（这些都是陈老师不敢吃的。）

Our Journey - Has it ended or just begun?

Dear Kids,

Our journey - has it ended or just begun?
Can you remember why we wanted to visit Putian (and Xiamen) in the very first place?

The objectives of internationalization are:
1)to create the International Awareness of the pupils,
2)to enable the pupils to be more cultural savvy, and
3)to reinforce the rootedness of the pupil as a Singaporean.

How has this trip helped you to achieve the objectives above?
What strengths (good points) have you learnt from the Putian pupils?
Compare some aspects of the culture between Singapore and Putian/Xiamen.
How do you feel now as a Singaporean? Are you proud to be a Singaporean? Why?

Please take a well-deserved break and remember to get the following tasks completed:
1. Evaluation form for the Putian Trip (distributed at the airport)

2. Individual Project on Putian Trip
- You may choose any of the following topics to talk about.
- You can present in English or Chinese.
- You may choose to present via PowerPoint or Photo-Story.
- You must include your reflections about the topic you have chosen and what you have learnt from that visit.

• Cultural Similarities / Differences between Putian & Singapore
• Places of Interests in Putian / Xiamen

Deadline of Project : 1st week of Term 3
Please submit your project (email or in thumbdrive or cd) to your group's Teacher-in-charge.

You will get to share your learning expericence with the rest of the school when it re-opens.

Short Excerpt of Events

We began our day with a wonderful breakfast at the hotel.

First stop - Ji Mei School Village

What a scenic place to remember!

That is Mr Tan Kah Kee standing behind us.

While the teacher was telling a story, the two girls stole time to take a photo.

Then it was time for Tea Culture. We went to Dr. Tea for a tea-demonstration.

Parents, pupils and teachers were relieved, tired and happy to see one another. I hope that all of you have benefitted from the trip, in terms of knowledge and skills.
